Our January meeting is always one of our most well-attended events and sets the tone for the year ahead. Come out and meet your 2011 Executive Board, committee chairs and fellow members, and learn about UFSC’s 2011 theme: “Awareness Inspired” and our goals for the year ahead. A 2011 Economic and Financial Forecast – with Derek Burleton, VP and Chief Deputy Economist, TD Bank Financial Group

Please join us as our guest speaker, Derek Burleton of TD Bank Financial Group, provides his professional perspective on the economic and financial outlook for 2011.  There will also be an opportunity for a Q&A period at the end of the discussion.

Derek is VP and Chief Deputy Economist (Canada) at TD Bank Financial Group. In his current position, he heads a team that provides leading Canadian economic and financial analysis. Derek has also authored a number of reports that have generated considerable attention across the country, including: “A New Normal: Canada’s Potential Growth During Recovery and Beyond,” “The Coming Era of Fiscal Restraint,” and “Charting a Path to Sustainable Health Care in Ontario.”  He is frequently called upon to speak to the media on economic issues and he gives numerous presentations to various groups within and outside TD. He received his Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University and an M.Sc.in Economics from the London School of Economics.
