December 2010 Member Spotlight: Stacy Beach

UFSC: Stacy, thank you for agreeing to this interview. Can you tell us how long you have been a member of UFSC and what made you join this organization?
Stacy Beach: I have been a member for 3 years. I joined the organization for the networking opportunities. Actually, it was a former colleague who told me about the organization. He thought that it would be a great way to connect with others in financial services.

UFSC: How were you able to capitalize on the networking opportunities at UFSC?
Stacy Beach: At the time I joined the UFSC, I made a recent career change from financial services to telecommunications. UFSC gave me the opportunity to stay connected to the financial industry which later helped me to capitalize on a career opportunity with the 2nd largest credit union in British Columbia - Coast Capital Savings.

UFSC: That’s really great. What are your main responsibilities at Coast Capital Savings?
Stacy Beach: I manage personal and business deposit and loan products.

UFSC: Would you say that your experience with the association was what you envisioned when you first joined?
Stacy Beach: My experience with UFSC has been a lot more fulfilling that I initially thought it would be. Over the years I’ve had a chance to give back through many of the Community Outreach activities..  Through the Mastermind program I’ve been able to connect with other UFSC members and discuss opportunities and challenges we face in the corporate world.  This mentorship program has really helped me grow professionally.

UFSC: How has the Mastermind program helped you grow professionally?
Stacy Beach: Being a member of the UFSC Mastermind Program helped me become a better corporate leader.  The knowledge and advice given by my peers in the program has helped me be more effective in addressing challenges and be more impactful in my job and my company.

UFSC: What would you say to someone thinking about joining UFSC as a member?
Stacy Beach: The UFSC is a great organization, one that bridges both career growth and community building. Guaranteed if you join UFSC you’ll meet great people, learn more about yourself and financial services. Who knows? You may find a new career path along the way.

UFSC: As a last question, when you think of UFSC what three main things that come to mind?
Stacy Beach: Professionals, career-oriented and financial services.

UFSC: Thank you for your time Stacy.
