A bit about Brandon Street:

History
Brandon Street CDF is a charitable organization celebrating its 25th year in 2012. Since 1987, the organization has expanded to deliver multifaceted programs and services and has earned a strong reputation for its innovative youth and community initiatives.  Its founding members stemmed from the Toronto Bathurst Lions Club. They wanted to combat the lack of positive role models for young black males and to help sustain families through the recession of the time.
Today
Brandon Street continues its partnering to deliver community development opportunities. In 2010, for example, the organization partnered with Morguard Investments  - Centerpoint Mall to deliver 'Blow the Whistle on Bullying', a $30,000 March Break campaign for children, youth and families.

The organization maintains a presence in Simcoe County, the GTA and Toronto. Brandon Street continues to deliver innovative, responsive and change causing programs or the communities it serves.

Why are we running?

Working with children, youth and young adults for more than 20 years, we know that bullying, in all of its forms continues to be a major problem.  In North America, 160,000 children stay home from school daily because they are afraid of the bully at their school. We are trying to put a stop to that!, as no child should be denied an education and their well being at the hands of others.

Money raised will support anti-bullying programs and victim retreats at the Umoja Sunrise Facility in Alliston, Ontario. We are building a “Circle of Friendship” and every $100.00 raised will help equip a classroom with the tools necessary to create positive and respectful learning environments or sponsor one (1) victim of bullying on a three day restorative retreat.
