Peter Slan is Senior Vice President and Head of Investor Relations at Scotiabank. Peter has been with Scotiabank for 14 years, the last two of which have been in the Finance department. In addition to running Investor Relations, Peter also has overall responsibility for the Bank’s Sarbanes-Oxley office and sits on the Bank’s Executive Support team for the upcoming conversion to International Financial Reporting Standards. Peter is responsible for all of the Bank’s external financial communications, including quarterly earnings releases, acquisitions announcements, conference calls, investor presentations and investor days. Peter is also responsible for the Bank’s relationships with the 17 equity research analysts and four rating agencies who offer investment opinions to the marketplace concerning Scotiabank.

 

Prior to joining the Finance department, Peter spent 12 years with Scotia Capital, the wholesale division of Scotiabank. At Scotia Capital, Peter was a Managing Director in the Investment Banking and Equity Capital Markets areas. His responsibilities included advising companies on Initial Public Offerings, follow-on equity offerings and Mergers & Acquisitions. Peter also headed up Scotia Capital’s Private Equity Sponsor Coverage group in Canada.

 

Prior to joining Scotiabank, Peter spent a number of years with Ernst & Young. Peter is a Chartered Accountant and holds an MBA degree from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. Peter sits on the board of directors and the investment committee of the Baycrest Foundation, a $125 million endowment dedicated to brain research. Peter is also a Vice Chair of the United Jewish Appeal’s Bay Street Cabinet and sits on the Financial Services Advisory Board of the Rotman School of Management.
